  • Stories, storytelling and how they won society’s’ hearts.

    Stories make the world go round and it is no secret that they have shaped and influenced how people live from the past, to connect, express themselves and share with the next generation. The process is implemented by creating diverse stories that evokes emotions due to how individuals resonate with it and their experiences are acknowledged. Whether shared as oral or written text, these stories sustain traditions, reinforces cultural identity in individuals and most significantly they remember them, due to being fascinated.

    Despite the memory retention that occurs after receiving the stories from the past generation, but the process of sharing is a form of therapy as the repressed older generation acknowledge their trauma, reclaim identities and healing begins which leads to change.     Hello everyone, on this blog post we will be focusing on Cultural Festivities around the globe, looking at China and Africa specifically, why? You may ask; well as the Sino-African relations progress over time it is only natural that we understand and appreciate the differences and similarities in culture, traditions and methods of celebration. It is a well-known fact that China and Africa have various political, economic, social and cultural relations for example the trade relations between us have increased by 700% during the 1990s with China currently being Africa’s largest trade partner.     Journalism refers to the process of gathering news and information and then spreading it to the public interest. News and information can be spread through multiple media channels such as magazines, newspapers, television, radio and more. Journalism involves reporting live events through broadcast media or events that have already occurred through the print media. Journalism aims to provide the masses with reliable information and expose social ills, providing a platform for the masses to express their social life events. Journalism helps to hold government officials accountable. One could even say journalism or media works as the fourth estate in a democratic government, which I explain further in this writing. In this essay, I will explain how journalism and media are significant in fighting crime, using examples from media channels that are common in Makhanda.

    Marcellus Williams, 55, received a fatal injection to end his life after a prosecutor questioned his murder conviction. Williams was executed on Tuesday just after 23:00 the Universal Time Zone. At a prison in Bonne Terre, Missouri. This happened in spite of protests from prosecutors who wanted to have the verdict overturned and even though Williams' life sentence had been approved by the loved ones of the woman he was charged with killing. This is the painful story of the – in my opinion – wrongfully convicted and executed Marcellus Williams.
